Kynren Unveils Spectacular Revamp of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee Parade for Milestone Tenth Anniversary Season

Bishop Auckland, UK — April 2025 — Preparations are in full swing for the highly anticipated 2025 season of Kynren – an Epic Tale of England, and audiences can look forward to a thrilling reimagining of one of the show’s most beloved scenes: Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee Parade.
To mark its tenth anniversary, Kynren is breathing new life into this iconic sequence with a dazzling array of new costumes, props, choreography, music, and cutting-edge projections. Set against the backdrop of the Victorian era, the updated performance promises to deliver an even more immersive, energetic, and unforgettable experience for audiences.
At the heart of the enhanced scene is a majestic portrayal of Queen Victoria’s arrival in a six-horse carriage, opulent in detail and grandeur. The revamped sequence now boasts more than 150 performers and over 20 horses, all working together to evoke the splendour and spirit of Victorian London.
The chimes of Big Ben herald the scene’s opening, transporting audiences straight into the bustling streets of the capital. With nannies pushing traditional prams, sharply dressed bankers, playful chimney sweeps, and lively newspaper boys, the vibrant parade brings the era to life with authentic period charm and a touch of light-hearted comedy.
“This revitalisation injects a new energy into a treasured part of our show,” said Anna Warnecke, CEO of Kynren. “Audiences can look forward to an even more engaging and immersive portrayal of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. It’s a true celebration of the dedication and creativity of our incredible volunteer cast and crew.”
Part of a larger production featuring 29 dramatic moments from English history, myth, and legend, the Jubilee Parade’s transformation has also required a major infrastructure upgrade. A new steel catwalk—delivered in twelve 1.5-tonne sections—has been carefully installed across Kynren’s stunning man-made lake, which was temporarily drained to allow for construction.
Manufactured locally by D&S Services of Peterlee, the new catwalk will enhance the grandeur and theatricality of the parade, adding a fresh layer of spectacle to the scene.
“We were thrilled when 11Arches approached us again to contribute new work for the Kynren project,” said a spokesperson from D&S Services. “It’s always an honour to be part of something so impactful and locally significant.”
Kynren’s dedicated team continues to work behind the scenes year-round, completing costume maintenance, prop refurbishments, and landscape improvements. According to Warnecke, “We constantly look for ways to elevate the audience experience—whether through technical enhancements, set upgrades or new creative direction—and this season is shaping up to be our most spectacular yet.”
Kynren’s 2025 season will run from Saturday 19th July to Saturday 13th September, offering visitors a breath-taking journey through 2,000 years of English history, brought vividly to life on a seven-and-a-half-acre stage.
