MAY: Where Heaven and Nature Sing

Southwell Minster is a hidden gem in a uniquely rural setting. Our beautiful building is set against the glorious background of our gardens and grounds, enriched by outstanding music.

We have objects that represent all the unique elements of the Minster including a collection of living leaves curated by our Head Gardener echoing the carved Leaves of Southwell. Our Quire is filled with naturalistic carvings of nature and the outside world, and as part of this we have some of the Sketches and Templates the creator of these works used. We also have our 100th Anniversary Leaves Cup on display, hidden pigs in the Chapter House, Medieval Night Music as well as our old favourites the Green Man and Lady Oak.

“This month we are bringing the outside in and celebrating Heaven, Nature and Music!” Sarah Clemson, Visitor and Volunteer

Services Officer.

Visitors can follow the object trail and explore the exhibition. There is something for everyone to do, including a Hunt the Letter game for children and an opportunity to spot a hidden creature in the minster.
