The Dreaded Daleks Are Returning
Last years children's fancy dress competition Max in his tin foil dalek, with the Helicopter Museum Team, Daleks and Dr Who Characters.
Following the success of last years Dalek Invasion Day to mark the 60th Anniversary of Dr Who, the dreaded Daleks will be returning to The Helicopter Museum in Weston-Super-Mare this year on Sunday June 23rd for another day of intergalactic fun.
Not only will there be life size animatronic Daleks stalking the display hangars of the aviation attraction looking for visitors to “exterminate!” but also a live interactive 'Audience With The Daleks’ Show complete with the Tardis and photoshoot background displays. Also expect to see lots of costumed characters from the Dr Who archives including some past doctors themselves.
To keep in with the theme of the day the Museum will also be opening up several of its helicopters that have links to TV and Science Fiction for visitors to explore between the shows including its Russian Mil-8 Helicopter, Huey and Westland 300. “Our Westland 300 has starred in several independent low budget sci-fi movies, whilst our Mil-8 has a rather unique Science Fiction history all of its own having starred in two Hollywood Sci-Fi Movies, Marvel’s ‘Black Widow’ and the soon to be released ‘Rich Flu’.” explained the Museums Manager, Lee Mills.
Dalek Invasion Day 2024 will take place on Sunday 23rd June, with Dr Who themed dressing up welcome and encouraged. The best children’s and adult’s costume on the day (which will be judged by a dalek panel of experts) will win helicopter flights during the Summer.
Full details of the event can be found on the museums website at www.helimuseum.com and on its official Facebook page.
