Discover the Legacy of Abram Games: A Talk by His Daughter, Naomi Games

Abram Games was one of the most influential graphic designers of the 20th century. His innovative approach and distinctive style left an indelible mark on the world of design. During World War II, he created maps for the Army Bureau of Current Affairs, designed book covers, and developed military insignias. In 1942, he was appointed ‘Official War Poster Artist,’ producing over 100 powerful and memorable poster designs. His philosophy of “maximum meaning, minimum means” led to visually striking works that communicated complex ideas with simplicity and impact. So pioneering was his approach that some of his posters were considered too controversial for publication.
Join Naomi Games as she delves into her father’s remarkable career and artistic contributions during wartime.
Growing up surrounded by her father’s creativity, Naomi watched Abram Games work from his home studio. Following in his footsteps, she studied graphic design and has authored and illustrated numerous children’s books. Since her father’s passing in 1996, Naomi has dedicated herself to preserving his legacy—curating exhibitions on his work and that of his contemporaries, lecturing both in the UK and internationally, and managing the extensive Abram Games Archive, which remains accessible to the public. She has also co-produced a film and authored six books exploring her father’s life and career.
