Coastal Cruises Poole Crew Rescues Paddleboarders in Distress Off Poole Harbour, Dorset

A routine sightseeing trip turned into a dramatic rescue today as the crew of Fortuna, a vessel operated by Coastal Cruises Poole, leapt into action to save two paddleboarders struggling in the fast-flowing Swash Channel just outside Poole Harbour.
The incident unfolded during the popular Poole–Swanage Jurassic Coast Cruise when Captain Jamie Moysey spotted the paddleboarders in visible distress. Recognising the urgency, the crew quickly alerted Solent Coastguard and moved in to assist.
Thanks to the swift and coordinated response by Captain Moysey and crew members Luke Johnson and Chris Furniss, both individuals were safely brought aboard Fortuna and returned to shore without injury.
“This is a shining example of the vigilance and professionalism our crews demonstrate every day,” said Carol Scott, Managing Director of Coastal Cruises Poole. “Jamie, Luke, and Chris showed exceptional composure and teamwork under pressure—we’re incredibly proud of their actions.”
The rescue highlights the crucial role trained commercial crews play in maintaining safety in busy coastal waters, especially in areas like Poole Harbour where tides and traffic can pose real danger to recreational water users.
