Two Thousand Years of History to Discover in Leicester
Leicester offers group organisers the chance to uncover two very different, but equally fascinating, chapters of the city’s past with visits to Jewry Wall and the King Richard III Visitor Centre.
At Jewry Wall, groups can step into Roman Leicester and explore one of the most significant surviving Roman sites in Britain. The Jewry Wall itself is the tallest surviving section of Roman masonry in Britain, dating from around AD 160 and forming part of a public bathhouse complex. A new multimedia exhibition brings Roman Leicester to life, introducing visitors to everyday life, from shopping in the market to preparing a Roman meal. Just a short distance away, the King Richard III Visitor Centre tells the remarkable story of the last English king to die in battle and the extraordinary discovery of his remains in a Leicester car park in 2012. For groups of 15 or more, both attractions offer preferential admission rates of £8.50 per person, while the advert also highlights free entry for the tour leader and coach driver, familiarisation visits and city-centre coach parking.
