Discover the Treasures of London’s Transport Past
London Transport Museum is delighted to announce an exclusive full-day experience for groups of up to 40 people at its Depot in Acton, west London. This unique working museum store, rarely open to the public, houses over 320,000 fascinating artefacts, from heritage Tube trains and Routemaster buses to iconic station signs, maps, models, and beautiful transport posters.
The full-day itinerary offers two guided tours:

Depot Discovery Tour (2 hours): Explore highlights from the Museum’s vast collection, including historic buses, trams, and Tube cars, as well as pioneering engineering equipment. Dive into the evolution of London’s public transport system, with rare vehicles and transport signs on display.

Art and Poster Tour (90 minutes): Get up close to the Museum’s world-class collection of transport posters and artworks. Guided by an expert, admire original works by celebrated artists such as Man Ray, Edward McKnight Kauffer, and Laura Knight, and uncover the innovative poster commissioning process pioneered in the early 1900s.
For those with limited time, half-day group bookings are also available, featuring one of these two tours.

The Depot is home to the majority of London Transport Museum’s collection, which forms one of the most comprehensive records of urban transport in the world. Visitors can see historic vehicles, rare transport signs, and original designs, including early plans for the Underground and Harry Beck’s iconic Tube map from 1933.
