Bury Market – A Great Day Out
Bury Market is a shopper’s paradise that has been an iconic part of Bury for centuries, with the current site being occupied since the 1970s.
On the Full Market Days of Wednesday, Friday and Saturday the Market is home to over 350 stalls selling all manner of goods and produce and when combined with the neighbouring Mill Gate and nearby Rock Shopping Centres, Bury offers a fantastic array of shops and leisure activities. On top of Full Market Days, selected Fish & Meat Hall and Market Hall stalls are open every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Truly, the only day the Market is fully closed is Sunday.
Meet the Traders
Consistently one of the busiest and most popular places to be on Bury Market is the Fish & Meat Hall, always packed full of shoppers looking to get high quality meat and fish for bargain prices. One of the butchers in the Fish & Meat Hall is Albert Matthews. Founded in 1935 by Albert Matthews himself, Albert’s have been selling only the finest local produce to the people of the North West and beyond for over 80 years. The business has been kept within the Matthews family throughout the years, and in 2005, Albert’s grandchildren Chris and Sarah brought their range of tasty meats to Bury Market. Since opening up on the Market, Albert Matthews has only gone from strength to strength, and they have received over twenty regional and Great Taste Awards.
