Raby Castle to Reopen for 2025 Season with a New Exhibition and Extended Opening Times

Raby Castle is set to reopen its medieval gates on Saturday, 1st March, after its winter closure, and for the first time in its history, it will welcome visitors seven days a week.

This new schedule follows the successful launch of a lifestyle destination within the castle grounds, enhancing access to one of the most well-preserved castles in Northern England. The decision to open daily marks a significant step in making this historic landmark more accessible to the public.

Claire Jones, Head of Leisure and Tourism at Raby Estates, commented: “Last year’s development was a pivotal moment for Raby, allowing more people to explore the grounds and uncover its hidden gems.

“As we continue to support and promote local tourism, extending the castle’s opening times during the main season feels like a natural progression.

“Lord and Lady Barnard are dedicated to ensuring visitors have even more to see and do at Raby. Last year, we introduced the Housekeeper’s Sitting Room, offering an immersive glimpse into the castle’s rich history before guests venture further inside. We hope that our expanded schedule for 2025 provides even more opportunities for people to discover Raby’s remarkable legacy.”

Ahead of the reopening, the 14th-century castle has undergone its winter maintenance and conservation programme, with meticulous care given to preserving its extensive collection of art, textiles, and furniture, spanning from the 17th to the 21st century.

This year, Raby Castle has also expanded its range of bespoke tours and workshops. Visitors can delve into the castle’s art collection or learn about the influential women of Raby, guided by the castle’s team of in-house experts.

To celebrate another exciting season at Raby Castle, Park, and Gardens, a new exhibition has been created for visitors to enjoy.

The exhibition explores the rich legacy of Raby’s Walled Gardens, charting their evolution over time and showcasing the vision of successive generations of Raby’s owners. It also highlights the recent transformation of the five-acre space, led by acclaimed garden designer Luciano Giubbilei and Lady Barnard.

The exhibition will be available to all visitors with a gardens ticket and will be displayed in the elegant conservatory within the Walled Gardens.

Daily admission to Raby Castle, Park, and Gardens is priced at £22 for adults, £21 for concessions, £13 for children, and £63 for families. Tickets are available alongside a membership option that grants access to all attractions at Raby Castle.*

Membership starts at £40 per year for children aged 4 to 15, with family passes available from £195 (covering two adults and three children). Members also receive admission to Raby Castle, the Deer Park, Walled Gardens, The Plotters’ Forest, and High Force Waterfall, as well as a 10% discount at the Coach House shop, The Vinery, and High Force Hotel.
