Shakespeare Distillery launches their first Cask Aged Rum!

Shakespeare Distillery has launched the first of their long-awaited ‘Jester’ Cask Aged British Rums. This exciting release has been aged for 30 months in an ex-Buffalo Trace bourbon cask and bottled at 48% ABV for maximum flavour. This special product is limited to just 415 bottles, each one numbered individually.

In April 2021 the independent carbon neutral spirit producer began carefully selecting and filling a series of ex-industry barrels with their award-winning Jester White Rum. Each cask was chosen to give a range of fantastic flavour profiles which will be released over the coming years in a series of exclusive limited edition aged rums.

Simon Picken, Founder of Shakespeare Distillery said “After a 3-year journey, we are
delighted to launch our first ever Cask Aged Rum! We haven’t chosen the easy route by importing somebody else’s rum, we make it from scratch here in Warwickshire, so we have complete control over the flavour. We use British milled molasses which we ferment for 7 days before double distilling into a stunning, smooth, buttery white rum and then aging. I couldn’t be any prouder of what we have produced, and I can’t wait for our customers to taste this delicious and very limited-edition rum, a great Christmas gift for rum fans!”

The name ‘Jester’ is taken from the famous sculpture of a Jester which sits in Henley Street, just yards from Shakespeare’s Birthplace. Almost all of Shakespeare & jesters were fond drinkers, and known to be bold, memorable, and popular characters - the ideal traits for a new British-made spirit. Shakespeare Distillery are one of only a handful of distilleries in the UK to create their rum in its entirety onsite. The company launched their White Rum in April 2021, followed by a Spiced Rum in June 2021.

Their Jester White Rum was awarded a silver medal in the International Wine & Spirit Competition 2021.

This limited-edition Cask Aged Jester Rum is priced at £42 for a 50cl bottle and can be purchased online or from the Distillery shops at 1 High Street and Drayton Manor Drive.
