Group Discounts on the Snowdon Mountain Railway
Send your groups on a once in a lifetime adventure on the Snowdon Mountain
Railway which has been described as one of the most scenic railway journeys
in the world. Trains depart from Llanberis Station and begin their climb up
Snowdon, Yr Wyddfa, a journey experienced by some 12 million travellers
since 1896. With stunning scenery and awe-inspiring views it’s all part of a
great day out for groups in North Wales.
Two services are available, the Heritage Steam Experience (seating 34 passengers)
and the Traditional Diesel Service (seating 60 passengers).
Heritage Steam Experience
Experience the nostalgic pleasure of steam and travel the way our ancestors did on
one of our award-winning heritage carriages, pushed by an original Swiss steam locomotive. The Snowdon Lily and
The Snowdon Mountain Goat are built on the original chassis and bogies from the carriages of 1896. Our Heritage Steam Experience means that today’s visitor can enjoy the same experience our ancestors did back in 1896, as they journey through the clouds up Yr Wyddfa, Snowdon. Please contact us to check departure times.
Traditional Diesel Service
Travel in style on one of our contemporary diesel carriages, pushed by traditional diesel locomotives from 1985. Departures leave Llanberis daily from April until the end of October. Our exact closing date is confirmed later in the year, see our website to check our last operational day.
2022 Destination
Leaving our station in the village of Llanberis trains travel to Clogwyn Station ¾ distance up Snowdon where the open mountainside offers spectacular views to the valleys below. Please be aware that there are no facilities at this station,
or on-board the trains.
The service to Clogwyn Station can last approximately two hours which
includes a 30 minute stop-over at the unsheltered station before passengers
return on the same train.
The summit building, Hafod Eryri, will remain closed for the 2022 season, as there will
be no access for service trains or staff, as a result of essential upper mountain track
work and will open as normal for 2023, along with our summit service.
Llanberis Station
A warm Welsh welcome awaits at Llanberis Station. Before trains departs, visitors can
take some time to relax in our flower-lined forecourt and soak up the sights and sounds
of billowing steam in the heart of Snowdonia before beginning their journey up through the clouds to Yr Wyddfa, Snowdon.
Our station gift shop is housed in the original Booking Hall from 1896 and offers a selection of authentic Welsh products including locally crafted ales and spirits, unique Snowdon Mountain Railway souvenirs, clothing and Celtic jewellery.
Our fully licensed Station Buffet and Platform Grill serve a tasty variety of hot and cold snacks from burgers, hotdogs and fries to delicious sandwiches. Hot and cold drinks and a selection of delicious cakes are also available throughout the day, we even serve Whippy and soft scoop ice cream from our ‘vintage’ ice cream tram.
