London Transport Museum

  • Explore the world’s leading Museum of urban transport in the heart of Covent Garden

  • Discover the mysterious side of London on one of our tours of disused Tube stations, secret tunnels and forbidden sites

  • Go behind the scenes at the Museum’s Depot in Acton and explore historic vehicles or vintage posters on one of our heritage tours

London Transport Museum tells the story of London and its transport system over the last 200 years.

Lively exhibitions and galleries look at the powerful role that transport has played in the development of London and how it has helped to shape the city’s culture and social history.

Visitors can explore 19th century horse drawn buses, the world’s first underground railway, and early red double-decker buses.  Winner of two Best Museum or Gallery for Groups awards, both domestic and overseas groups will love the internationally recognised icons on display such as the Tube roundel logo and the diagrammatic Underground map.

Groups can also venture behind locked doors and inconspicuous grilles on the Underground to see a hidden world of disused tunnels and passages by taking an exclusive Hidden London tour of a disused Tube station or other secret site.

Led by passionate expert guides, your group will hear surprising stories about war-time shelters, feats of engineering and top-secret hideaways across the 12 different locations. London Transport Museum’s award-winning Hidden London tours run throughout the year, and are the best way to explore London’s history, right where it all happened.

The Museum Depot in Acton, west London, holds the majority of the Museum’s collection of over 320,000 items, including many original works of art, vehicles, signs, models and uniforms.

Exclusively for groups, the Museum offers two tours: The Art and Poster store tour and Depot Discovery tours.

We offer a full day itinerary for groups of up to 40 people or groups can also experience our individual tours. Free coach parking is available for groups.
